No Bugs

Early spring is a great time to be outdoors…before the bugs come.

Even though this blog is a wilderness backpacking blog I have to say that Spring is my favorite season to to canoe trips because the water is high from the snow run off and there are no bugs.  The only downfall is that the water tends to be really cold.

The reason I’d rather be canoeing than backpacking at this time of year is all the mud that covers the trails.  It sticks to everything and even your food ends up getting that mud taste.  By getting off the trails and into a canoe you can float by all the guck and avoid all the mud.
