When backpacking it is important to have a tent that is very light and going to protect you from the elements. You want a tent that sets up quickly and easily so if you’re caught having to set up in the rain at night you’re not fumbling around trying to figure out what pole goes where while getting soaked.
I prefer tents that have only 1 connected spider-like pole. Marmot tents even color co-ordinate which pole goes in which corner.
Before heading out on your next trip, set up your tent and make sure there are no tears or holes in your tent or fly and that all the zippers work well so that you won’t get caught with leaks or bugs infesting your night sleep.
