Waking up to pouring rain this morning tells me that I need to be getting ready for all those April Showers. All my rain gear need to be re-waterproofed and I suggest that you do the same.
What happens to your rain gear over time is that the DWR (durable water repellent) finish on the outside can get worn off or just get a layer of dirt on it so it doesn’t work any more…making you a very soggy person.
The best thing to do is to wash your rain gear with Tech Wash then put the gear in the dryer for only about 10 minutes — the heat should re-activate the DWR finish. If your gear is old and there is no longer any DWR left then you need to apply TX Direct spray on waterproofing.
You can buy waterproofing wash in detergent but I would not recommend this because it will put the water proof coating on the inside of your gear as well as the outside, making it not breathable any more.
